I need someone with a 81-87 regal with a 455 and the SP-1 intake and a holley carb. Can someone please measure the distance between the hood and the top of the holley carb air cleaner mounting surface. Or put a straight 2x4 or something across the fenders and measure down to the air cleaner surface on the Holley carb. I'm building a custom air cleaner and need this measurement. I don't have the engine in the car yet, its at the machine shop. I'm trying to get all my ducks in a row before I install the engine. Someone has to have this combo out there? Thanks a million!!! Thanks Brad
id do it for u but i have a 2 inch cowl hood on mine, i would try and let u figure the difference. but im not sure u want to do that. dan
Dan, Thanks for the reply! If you have the same intake and carb? could you put a 2x4 or something reasonably straight across the fenders and measure down to the air cleaner surface on the carb at the front ? I could figure the rest. Thanks Brad
well i have a demon on mine, but they are the same size as holleys, ill do it in the morning, im sure it will be close. im not sure how mine would clear if i didnt have the cowl, that intake is pretty tall.
well brad i have bad news, i put a board strait accrossed and the board just touches where the air cleaner stud screws in, not sure how u will do it. not much room. dan
Ok Thanks that helps!! Could you please give me 1 more measurement? From the carb stud to the hood weatherstiping on the firewall? So the top of the air horn is about level with the top of the fenders? So If thats the case I can now measure under the hood to see how much room I have there and add the 2 measurements to get a total. I need 3 inches from the top of the aircleaner mounting surface on the carb. so If the hood will give me at least 2 inches I'll be good to go. The air cleaner I'm making is not round I'm "styling" it after the "starwars" air cleaner from the 60's buicks. I'm going to use 2 cone style air filters from K&N. Thanks again!! Brad
Thanks!!!! Thanks that gives me a little more than 3 inches that I need!!! Thanks for your help!! :TU: Brad
