I got this buick 350-2 barrel off someone and it was running. So I put it in my car cause I blew my Buick 350-4 barrel mtr 6+ years ago. But due to it being so long ago, I don't remember where these 5 wires go? I know the black boot goes to the main power connector on the back of the alternator. But I have a 2 male square electrical plug on the back of the alternator as well.
From the wire harness, like I said there's the *black boot with the eye connector.
But I also have a * female single slot square connector. *2 female single slot "L" shaped connector. *2 female side by side white connector. The *pink/red butt connector is what I had running to the HEI. But in this case ill run it to the positive connector on the coil cause it still has the point system. ( ill put that HEI in later.)

    alec296 i need another buick

You appear to have a external regulator alternator there. But the whiteish flat 2 slot connector would be for an internal regulator. You don’t mention year of any thing. The l connector is not for alternator.

What year/car is this going into? What are the colors of the wires going to the connectors. I agree that you have an external regulator alternator and you need an internal reg. model. Hopefully you have the original unit from the car. Along with the replacement of the alternator I would put the tranfer of the HEI over to this engine on the short list of things to do. Points/coil setups do not take kindly to full 12V that would be getting to them if you use the large pink wire that fired the HEI previously. It may run for a while but sooner or later the points will burn up from the overload. Typical early wiring harness had a built in ballaster resistor wire to drop the voltage to the coil.

That L connector may be for a temp sender. That double wire to one connector may go to a carb solenoid.

My apologies fellas. My car is a 73 centurion that originally had the 350-4 but I blew it. This mtr came from a 68 skylark but has 73 heads & a 2 barrel carb. I plan on getting a aftermarket Intake after incometax. (If someone is selling 1 between now and then please let me know know. Thank you)
You can see what I think is a temp sensor on bottom right of pic. It has a single male connector sticking out the intake. There's another single male connector (when facing the car) on the front mid left side next to the timing cover pointing towards the front passenger tire. So i guess the internaal regulator in the Alt. still has a connection/ plug for it? I'll try to get colors soon. I'm going to put the HEI after i run the mtr a couple of times.

I want to thank yall for yalls help. I have the new alternator and it has the side by side males for my white plug connector at the top of the alt. And I found a local auto parts store that can order me a temp switch like the one I need. HEU will be soon. Never soon enough.
