I am restoring the trim on the car so it will look good when the car comes back from the painter.

Everything was good until I got to the Door Trim and the Quarter Window Trim.

It looks like there is a coating on the trim pieces. In the attached file you can see that I fixed a ding and was going to sand it out stepping the grit from 320/500/600/1000/1500/2000/2500 before buffing it.

What a shock, the door trim isn't stainless, or is it? I don't know and need some help on what to do now.

Any advice, knowlege, help is very much appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Curtis. 2020-05-03_180455_2.jpg

The parts you are trying to polish are made of aluminum and were anodized for protection.

You can strip the coating with toilet bowl cleaner then polish. The parts will have to be constantly be polished.

I have a nice left door trim if you need it.

Thanks Dave! How much do you want for that trim? Will it my 2-door post car?

Got the trim off the driver side "B" pillar. Is this what you need?
There is some minor scratches that are hard to photograph.

Yes much better shape than mine & it looks like what I need. How much you want for that piece? Shipping to 64014? Do you have a Paypal account?

    Thank you, Curtis

Hey Dave, since your car is a 2-door post. I really need the rear quarter trim piece that goes on the top of the quarter window. Mine has a crack in the aluminum. If you do, that would make my trim complete. The vertical piece on the pillar of the quarter window is fine, I just need the top piece on the quarter. And since you are selling pieces I would be interested in purchasing all the door window and quarter trim for both sides if you'd rather bundle it all!!

As Dave said they are anodized. If its a nice straight piece and depending how important it is to you the part can be anodized again but you may want to also do the surrounding pieces, but it can be costly.

    Thanks for the input Tony.

Yeah found out today just how expensive it is to re-anodize!
