Ok so I'm a dyed in the wool 70-72 Skylark GS nut but I have the chance to pick up a 78 Skylark 2dr locally for a pretty good price. The pictures I've seen sofar show a straight non-vinyl roof body with what appears to be a copper'ish color exterior and a light tan or saddle bench interior.

Guy says it has a carb problem and is a v6 car but said it's 289 cubic inches ?:eek2: . Ok so he has no idea but I'm looking for a driver quality car and I always thought the X-bodys were ok looking. I like the fact that the second gen Camaro and Firebird suspension pieces are a bolt on too. :TU:

If I pick it up I'll post some pictures asap.

I don't have a problem with a clone as long as it's not pushed off as the real deal so I have some GS emblems that might just have to find there way onto the car. ???? That could be fun at the cruise night huh? :3gears:

sounds good! cant wait to see some pictures... these cars are very versatile, you can use alot of parts from other cars so making something to fit your style or personality is never a problem

Front subframe is like the second gen F-bodies, rear subframe is like the first gen F-bodies. The '78 should be an even fire engine. Check the distributor cap, the wire spacing should be equal. If not, the poor running could be a a cap issue (double check how the pick-up coil looks, the reluctor and pickup coil teeth should also be evenly spaced). A non-car guy could easily goof the cap up. The 2bbls aren't to bad to work on. Sticky EGR's or mis-routed vacuum lines can goof up the running of the engine pretty good too. Those are my experiences with the 231.

I've enjoyed mine so far. If I ever found a decent set of GS scoops on a wrecked hood, I'd graft them on my Skylark in a heartbeat and GS it up.

Buick 350's are a drop in deal, straight swap, just remove the staples on the fan shroud extension and remove the extension. Motor mounts and everything are the same on the 350.

Grrrr, The guy wont return e-mails or phone messages. I put my current daily driver(2000 GMC Jimmy 4dr) on Craigslist here today to generate some much needed cash so if I get any action on it I'll be needing something else soon. My bigblock 72 just aint gonna be thrown into daily driver status at about 8 mpg's. :Dou: It is much fun to drive though.

Well I'll keep trying but it's now almost a week and since his first e-mail reply the seller still has not returned calls with messages left and several e-mails. For fear of him thinking I'm a stalker or something I think I'll just let this one go. Why list something for sale if you don't want to sell it? :Dou:

My 78 4 door was the orange before i panted it, if the paint is in good quality it really does look nice, mine was in extremely bad quality so i had it repainted dark brown. If it still has the stock v6 its a 231, the 78 had even fire also.

Well it's been a a few weeks now and the guy still hasn't responded. I think the car has potential for a good driver and I like the lines. I pulled my Jimmy off Craigslist due to the constant spammers and scammers. I think a simple for sale sign in the window would be less of a headache.

Maybe I'll try to contact the seller again since he's relisted the car atleast four times that I've seen. It's been for sale a looooong time.

Oh boy. Never heard back from the guy but he relisted the car asking for more money but his original ad with the lower price is still there too. Good luck..

But now a second one has shown up for a much lower price but without a engine, rearend or tranny. Now we're talking. I may be in the X-body business anyway.
