Are there any issues with running earlier heads with later blocks with respect to the water passages.

I have read a article on this but want to verify.

    From www.gesslerheadporting.com

1967 thru early 1972 head castings can be installed on late 1972 thru 1976 blocks. Just be sure NOT to use the steel shim head gasket.

Late 1972 thru 1974 heads can be installed on 1970 thru early 1972 blocks, IF the center two, round coolant passages are plugged in the head.

    All,
Is their another link. Looking to put' 72 heads on a '70 block. Are they talking about the two very center ones, 1/2" or so?

    Merry Christmas,

Sone very very late 72 hs the 2 center coolant holes.........its easy to see where if you have the 2nd hole where the scallops on the block dont seal the 2nd hole.....but normally it's on 73 only

See pic these are the 2 holes
