Hello, Has anyone done a halogen headlight conversion on a 69? Close to the end of a full frame off and will drive this car, a lot. I have put in a full Hella Halogen headlight system. It took a little work, but no modifications to the head light buckets. Problem is the headlight switch will go thermal after a few minutes of running with the high beams. Comes right back once they are shut off. I have converted every bulb on the car with leds to try and take the load away from the switch, it is better, but still shuts down after a time. Has anyone gone the relay route, using the original headlight wire to signal the relay and pulling from another 12v source ( the battery) . As a side, all of the bulbs are either from Holly, through Summit or off the shelf Sylvanias. both flashers have been replaced with the ones from Painless. I have even done all the cluster bulbs too. Looks great, except for the hi beam problem. Any Help?

Relays are your friend. Wire them in to keep the headlight wiring as short as possible then you most likely will NOT have to upgrade the wiring to the lights, you can retain the original wiring.
Just mount the relays out of direct water/rain intrusion.
I like using the NAPA AR200 relays. the wiring layout is on the relay.
Paint them semi-gloss or flat black to kinda hide them.
    Again, just my thoughts.

I am running relay harnesses on two of my cars. I think you'll be satisfied and you can hide the harnesses easily enough.

Perfect, just what I needed. Thank you very much. I will get out the iron and heat gun.

I second the LED. Auxbeam fanless LED bulbs are like $36. They will be bright and easy on the wires. No cutting of wires.

Thank you all for the response. I ordered a Ron Francis 4 headlight relay harness, Fairly simple to install, took about 8 hours. So far the halogen headlights work perfect. And the added bonus, the Legendary Interior has arrived. I will post full shots of the resto in the spring

Just curious, what bulb housings would you recommend to go with for these?

Gotcha. Are they plug & play? Any mods necessary? I imagine they're glass (?) from the appearance but it doesn't say so in the description. And they'll fit H1 and H4 bulbs?
Sorry for all the questions. I hate to order something if I don't know that it's not what I want or find out I'm in over my head with required mods.
