I posted under Buick events but no one is responding. Am wondering if there is going to be any interest in Columbus to run GSE. My understanding is there has to be 8 cars. I know one person who is waiting on the response so as to know how to set his car up.:Do No:

    Thanks, David

At Bowling Green I was never in the right place at the right time to see any of the GSE.

I kept an ear out when i could hear and understand what was being said on the PA (not to often) at the track but never heard a call for the tech, the mandatory drive, qualifying runs etc...

Its like it did not exist.

I am interested but I would like to know a few things in advance.

What was the ET/MPH of the cars that qualified for GSE at BG?

What is the schedule of events to be in Columbus. Dates and times for the drive, qualifying and eliminations?

My car is now ready and I plan on having it at Columbus. Hopefully I can get some passes on it this weekend to determine if it will in fact even be quick enough to participate.

Good question... The trick is the 8 cars.... I want to say there was 3 in GS Nats. Running 11's from what I saw.

It would be best is there was a "default" type class that you could drop all the v-8 "heads-up" guys into if the classes were short of 8 cars, instead of saying no-class at all. You can get commitments all day but making it to the track is a different story. Something like an Open Comp run off a pro tree would be nice as a fall back class.

I ran in the GSE and Open Comp and loved the Open Comp class. I was the slow guy in GSE with an 11.41@117 mph. Not my best run, that was in Open Comp with an 11.33@117. The other two cars in GSE were 11.08 and 11.12. Not sure of the MPH. Still had fun with it. It would be nice to know if we could have a class other than brackets if needed. As far as qualifying and a drive, I would guess they would accommodate as needed or wanted. Not sure who is race director.

David thanks for the info about BG GSE.

Dont think i will be quick enough to compete.

Looks like test and tune is going to be rained out again tonight so still not 100% sure where i stack up.

sure would enjoy running in a heads up class though.

Come on Greg, it's all for fun and you get three qualifying runs plus at least one elimination round like me. Pro tree is a lot of fun, I just can't compete on our local track with the nitrous S-10's and mustangs, that and our local track has been torn up since May.

We'll run GSE if there's not a SA race, we'll be slow but the fastest car doesn't always win.......:Brow:

Has anyone heard a payout total for this class or any others for this event?

    Does anyone care?

Boy, I get raked over the coals on my payouts, and they get a free pass. :spank:

Jim I never raked you over the coals (quite the opposite) and I dont race because of the money.

Your payouts were awesome at BG, since there is not even a title sponser (that I am aware of) I wouldnt be expecting much this go round. Actually I am not even expecting the class to be run at Columbus.

    I said it.

My point is, I got beat up royally on this board about my payouts in BG before the Nationals, and the GS Nats does every year. Months BEFORE the Nationals this year, several guys were on here demanding a complete breakdown of my payout structure, telling me "greed kills", saying I have no business sence, calling me a thief, and lots of other things. But no one says a thing about the payouts at ANY of the other events reguardless of wether they are posted in advance, how they are structured, wether its cash or goods/services, if the classes and payouts are guaranteed or not, or any dang thing else.

So this leads me to several conclusions.

Either there is a double standard at work which wouldnt surprise me, and folks just like to give the Nats a hard time.

    OR

No-one really, deep down cares about the payouts, and folks still just like to give the Nats a hard time.

    Phil,

Whats your take on why this is so? Why is there a double standard? Are payouts really that important in ANY of the classes? Or are they "only" important in BG?

I do not race for money, never did, never will. (Old SCCA amatuer:bla: ) I just don't understand all the anger.Guess I never will understand all the politics, That is why I left SCCA after 20 years of being on the board of Directors, racing, driving instructor, etc. Blah Blah. I left because of politics and etc, I thought this (Buick) would be different. (I am back to my 1st love BUICKS :TU: ) Hey guys thats why I only volunteer friendship and good times. I am too old for anything else. Jim I answered your PM yesterday. I still don;t get it? (JCC,etc)

    Neither do I Phil.

Anyway, back to the GSE in Columbus discussion. (Sorry for the hijack:Dou: )

Who is going to run the class? What are the rules?

I think the deal with the GS Nats is, from past rumors or whatever, that someone is getting a cut if they are involved with running a race class. So, since you had the title....tag, your it! Plus from years past, since car count wasn't made, they cut the payout and that is what people were expecting.

As far as BPG. Nick had asked me at the Nats if the v-8 guys were going to put something together. So, if you want a class, find the cars and make one....BUT I also read here that the options are BPS, GSE, or a GS Nats class and they were not going to deal with anything new.......

Oh , yeah.....8 cars or sit and watch. OR jump into some bracket race class.....

Back to the original question, I suppose it's just me, Greg and Keith? I'm not a mathmetician but that ain't 8. I'm going to Columbus so I won't be sitting around. Brackets it will be but I'd have a good time either way. :beers2:

    Car count...

There should be a better turn out than 3 as there are a few more cars that should show since it is closer to the "majority". It's hard to get reponces on-line as there are still plenty that don't paricipate in forums or computers. The best way is to get phone numbers and call people. I would think 5-6 cars wouldn't be too hard to get. It is always great to see a high turnout. People and parts breakage is just hard to predict but the events are always a good time for those who show.

I agree with Rick, just because only 3 people at this site are interested doesnt mean more wont show up at the event.

But, also even if 8 people here at this site said they were going to race GSE I still would not believe it until I see it.

I still dont think 8 cars will show up though :Do No:
