I have installed a 66 425 in my 52 Buick. Where do you attach the ground cable from the negative terminal on the battery to the engine block?

Mine is grounded at the back of the power steering pump bracket.

I made sure I had clean metal for studs/bolts and used serrated washers on each side of the cable lug to ensure good grounding.

Yup, that's the factory location. Without power steering, just use the head studs where the above ps bracket is attached.

Thank you, I was concerned about how hot the head studs get. I do have the bolts that hold the water manifold to the head.

I am not using the factory power steering pump. I got to looking around, what about the lower bolts that attach transmission to bell housing?

when i did my wiring kit the company info ( Ron Francis ) stated that they recommended mounting it close to the starter . if you want it OEM lookin' then that might not be best .
i mounted mine at right rear bellhousing bolt from remote solenoid , then from bellhousing a ground strap to body and ground strap from there down to frame . trunk mount battery so i also have an extra ground location on rear frame area .

It may not be a stock location, but the best place is to one of the starter nose bolts.

The Buchev is grounded to an open hole on the bottom of the front PS mounting bracket, And I did use serrated washers. The reason that I chose that location was because I happened to have a ground cable that fit that location perfectly, and I saw no reason to go buy a new cable that would reach a different location. It's been working just fine for close to 15 years. I would attach the cable to any decent size bolt that attaches to the engine (except exhaust manifold bolts of course). Don't overthink this.
