So had not driven this car in a while, today, idled out of the garage no problem, put it in drive and drove several miles, no issue. While backing out of a parking spot it seemed to require a little gas to get moving, almost felt like the emergency brake was engaged, but it wasn't. Gave it a little gas and heard and felt a loud grinding from the rear end. In drive and forward gears no issue, still reverses however any strain and it feels like the rear end in going to disintegrate.

Jacked up the wheels, they seem to turn ok with no issue, however once on the ground in reverse, grinding. Have not had a chance to pull the rear diff cover, but what are your thoughts?

    GS 350 - TH350 Trans non posi 308 gears I believe.

    Thanks

One of my friends had a problem similar to what you described, and it was something with the transmission.

    TrunkMonkey Totally bananas

Drive it easily, just to get the tranny warmed up and check the fluid level running.

Smell the fluid, look at the color and look for metal in the sun.
If it is dirty red "oxblood or brown", has metel (like fine metal flake paint) or has a burnt smell then dropping the pan and looking for signs of failure would be next.

If it is clean, clear red and fluid level is correct, then it could be the sprag, but "diagnosing" over the interwebs is "guessing'.

not enough info. roll the car in reverse with the drive shaft hooked and unhooked see what you get.
