do you have a partial name or address or maybe just a town or area where your car was sold new, and now you want to learn more about it ? i may be able to help. i have a book which i think lists all buick dealerships in the USA as of 1968. most these dealerships were no doubt still in business til the early 70s. some are still in business. sadly, it doesnt have the dealer codes, just the name of the dealership and the address. i have been able to help a few people on this, maybe i can help you. i would prefer you post here and not email or pm me. this offer is open to all. lets see what we can do. henry
Henry, OK, here's one for a 71 car. Lawson Buick-Cadillac Co. ??? Comanche Rd. Lawson Oklahoma 73501 I am not sure of the street number and whether the town name is Lawson or Lawton, the buildsheet is very hard to read. Thanks. Duane
duane i'm sorry but the closest match i can find is in Lawton OK, that one is Norton Kitchens Buick- Caddilac 521 E. Aven Lawton OK 73501 that is the only buick- caddy dealership on the list in OK for 1968. let me know if i can be more help. henry
This may be the dealership you are looking for. Looks like a new location. http://kswo.wwip.com/WebPage-ContactForm.cfm?ID=498
Hey Henry, Why don't you give this a whirl? Temple Motor Company Alexandria, VA Dealer Code 04-102 Thanks!
My GSX was bought at MORMON BUICK 1980 S. Topeka Blvd Topeka Ks 66617 However its now called Kobach Buick GMC hey and I work there!!!
brett Temple Motor Co. inc. 1912-14 Diagonal Rd. Alexandria VA. 22300 michael unless the book is wrong, in 1968 it was Topeka Ave. i guess they improved the rd and changed it to Blvd. , but i'm sure you already knew that. to work at a buick dealership, now thats cool. my stage 1 was sold by, the Thumma Motor Co. 217 Frederick St Hagerstown MD 21740 henry
Question.. Henry, What, if any, information can I get from the dealer about my car? Anything, you think? o No:
brett i checked my DC area phone books but they dont cover VA. i'm not sure if they are still in business or not. i have been in the attics of dealerships that had boxes full of 35-40 year old invoices and such, but that is very rare. temple being in the big city, i would say the chances are even worse than with a small town dealer. i wouldnt get your hopes too high, but it might be worth a phone call. henry
Henry, I just called information with the address you provided me and they gave me a phone number which I did a "reverse seach" with. Here's what I came up with. Looks like I'm going to have to either call or email and see if they have any info. I highly doubt they will and really don't have ANY idea how I'm going to approach it but hey, it's worth a shot, right? Thanks again!
brett i never heard of that dealership, but they come and go around here. that is a different address. my experience has been that so much depends on who you talk to, if you get someone who cares and wants to help, at least you know they tried, if you get a guy who is having a bad day, he will just want to get rid of you to go to the next paying job. many dealers around here chucked all the parts and stuff in the dumpsters years ago, shoot, if i could have all the stuff they threw away, i would be rich. its worth a shot, good luck. henry
Hell, I don't know. I asked for Temple Motor Co. in Alexandria and that's what they gave me. Weird, huh? Maybe I'll give it a shot later on this week....
Henry, How many pages does this book of yours have? Sounds like Mark M. needs a copy to help complete his dealer registry. I would not mind a copy myself.
Henry How about a dealership located in Thomasville N.C. My 71 stage was purchased off the showroom floor in 1971 and I have not been able to find out the namne of the dealership. Thanks Dave
Dealers My 79 LeSabre evidently came from the Colorado Springs area, I have called every current dealer in that part of Colorado but none were in business in 1979. Do you have any listings for that area? Thanks, Dean
hi mike the book has 96 pages. like i say, it doesnt have the dealer codes but i would like to help you and mark. you helped me and i remember that. i'm sure we can do something to get all the info to you, not sure whats the best way to go about it though. whats the easiest way to transfer 96 pages of info in a softbound booklet ? dave no listing for thomasville but there is one for kernersville, it is Vestal Pontiac - Buick inc. 169 Mountain st Kernersville NC. 27284 could it be a town near thomasville ? i can keep looking. dean one listing for colorado springs, it is Guy Martin Buick inc. 1313 Fountain Creek Colorado Springs CO. 80901 you all let me know if i can be more help. most dealers that were open in 1968 were probably open until the local interstate hi-ways opened, or until the gas shortage of 1974, after that, many went under. henry
Henry, Please try these two and see what you get: Bugle Buick Taunton, MA 02780 Berretta Buick Brockton, MA
brett only listing for Taunton is Costello Buick inc. 31 School st. Taunton MA 02780 only one for Brockton is, Johnson Buick inc. 132 Court st. Brockton MA 02401 henry
Henry, Thanks! Costello Buick later turned into Bugle Buick, until the 80's...then it turned into a parking garage! It's right around the corner from my house....:Brow: I'm pretty sure Johnson Buick became Beretta Buick back when I was a young, strapping lad. I'd have to check with my father... Thanks for the info!
