I looked at the service and assembly manual. I have ac. What is the proper procedure after screws are removed. At 50 years old it doesn't bend easily. It doesn't want to maneuver out. I tried it about 35 years ago and gave up. Do I have to remove the staple? I still can't get it. I don't want to break it. Help appreciated.

IIRC, The nut fasteners are attached to the liner, behind the dash tabs on all 4 side. After removing the screws, push the liner toward the front of the car so the end of the liner is no longer behind the dash opening tab. Then move the liner slightly to the side so you can grab one side of the liner, then pull the top and bottom of the liner to be inside the dash opening tabs. This allows you to pull it out of the opening in the dash for the glove-box.
