Anyone done this updrade? I’m just looking for positive reinforcement that the alternator exciter wire should be fused and have a resistor.

Well, more like confirmation that the fuse is 10amps and the resistor is 10 ohm 10 watt. I found basic resistors on Amazon. There are some really nice ones in other ohm/watt that are enclosed in a small aluminum housing to help with heat dissipation, but not the 10 ohm 10w.

You can use the factory GEN light as the resistor to excite the alternator. There is a wire hooked to the stock regulator ( i think it will be a brown wire). If you ground it with the key on the GEN light should come on. This wire hooks to the #1 terminal on the alternator.

Thats really cool, but already did the conversion and for much less cost!

Found these really cool resistors in a heat dissipating aluminum housing.

    Correct - that’s what I did when I converted.

What does it consist of and what alternative do you use?
