Can someone explain to me why gas is still coming out the accelerator pump jets after I shut the engine off?

Rod is in the top hole of the pump bracket and nothing was modified except the float level to stock and new needles and seats.

Either the gas mileage is horrible or the fuel gauge sending unit in the tank is bad. I can have a 1/4 tank and drive less than 20 miles and it's on empty. I know this can't be right.

    3503 carb off a '63 401.

    Thanks.

You better find the problem & not run the engine till you do find the problem. Gasoline washing down the cylinder walls protective coating of oil will wipe out rings in short order. I've seen it too many times especially on newly rebuilt engines. Have someone with more knowledge than you may have take a look at it. The cost now is way less than an engine rebuild.

It's missing the check ball under the accelerator pump squirters Tom. I took it apart today and it wasn't there.
