    Yes but No

Have a good friend here in Bowling Green, Ky (Punkin @ Walt's Transmissions)that has tried this with the following results. Everytime he tried this the tanks would interchange but the turbo cars have a fuel tank with a deeper sump area (1 gallon more capacity I think he said) and the tank would not supply enough fuel to the pump when he leaned on it. Thats one reason the (new) cheap priced tanks you see on the internet that say (for Regals and Turbo cars) don't work on both cars, just the carburated models. Hope this info helps

Don't throw the tank from the 84 T-type away. People who are doing fuel injection conversions in g-bodys are looking for the GN tanks especially if its salvagable. I even talked to a guy who lives up north and bought a wasted tank just to cut it up to get the bucket & pick up etc.

I put a GN tank in my 87 442 that has a carbed big block so that I could upgrade to an intank electric fuel pump. It uses a return style regulator to return unused fuel to the tank so it constantly provides cold fresh fuel to carb (ie no vapor lock in hot August stop & go traffic) and you have a quiet pump that lives a long normal life. Its cheaper, easier, quieter, lives longer, and is safer (no crash hazzard hanging between the bumper and tank) than trying to adapt an old school out of tank gravity fed electric pusher pump with sump or cell.

It works for the new 505HP 427ci Z06 Corvette. The only difference with a carbed car is that unused fuel is returned to the tank by the regulator instead the regulator/fuel rail in a fuel injected car.

So if you have not already invested a lot of money that you can't get back out in a sump, fuel pump, fuel cell for many people etc etc you should consider it. None of the A bodys or old muscle cars had this option as none of them came with fuel tanks and pick ups set up for fuel injection. Mine has performed flawlessly in quiet sleeper stealth for 9,000 miles. Its done that in a car that has achieved 17 mpg hwy weighed 3840 pounds and ran 109.6 in the 1/4.

Here is some links for review.
www.racetronix.com click the GN/T-type/GNX link for a complete high end pump and ready made plug & play wireing set up.
www.summitracing.com search for MAA-4309 for the return style regulator.
www.robertpowersmotorsports.com Bob has pics & info from when he did this with his carbed 455 Olds Cutlass. (Which ran a 12.3 @110 and achieved 14.5 mpg on pump gas before being stolen.) The pump setup & regulator are all you need as you have the tank and pickup.

Running, I would advertise it on some of the big g-body sites. Like www.maliburacing.com or www.montecarloss.com Advertise it like; wanting to switch to fuel injection? I have an 84 t-type tank with bucket pick up and all designed for a performance fuel injected g-body. The only challenge is that UPS will not ship it. Fed X will hazard ship but I am sure it will cost.

dloyd, Any thoughts on my other post? Are you going to an electric fuel pump and if so did you consider an intank pump or do you already have too much invested in the out of tank route?
