As most of you are aware I'm building a sleeper. I've got a RobbMC mechanical fuel pump and I want to run a factory "looking" steel line from pump to carb. The difference in this pump vs a stock pump is there are no inverted flare fittings on the pump. Only 1/2" npt openings. I'd like to find a male 1/2" NPT to 3/8 inverted flare brass fitting in straight or 90 configuration but no luck. Any other ideas?

I went to -6AN fittings on mine and used aluminum tubing from pump to carb.

I may just buy the AN flaring dyes for my Eastwood flaring tool and go that route.

    How about a compression fitting?
You can go from 1/2" NPT to 3/8" tube:

You could definitely do it. Like Walt posted, just use a conversion bushing.

Thats the route I went with that same pump on my 350, I like the stock look too, but figured the proper AN braided line would be safer than a gaggle of fittings.

    Bob,

You need to transition from the 1/2 NPT to a -6 AN.. from that point, you can then simply cut off the end of the tube, and use a tube sleeve and nut to attach it to a male -6.

The challenge is coming out of the pump, and turning it up, at the right distance... Tough bend to make in 3/8 steel, unless you have access to a mandrel bender. More likely than not, your going to flatten the line at the bend.

I did it with 3 fittings.. and it worked out well.

    The Areoquip/Eaton part numbers are"

    1/2 NPT to -6 adapter- 2024-8-6S
    The male/female 90* -6 fitting - 500454-6
    And the female coupling- 6565-06

I originally planned to use the fittings as assembled there.. but found that was too long.. so I switched them around.. the adapter and the 90 are the perfect distance.

Now, when you do that flare, remember that these fittings are a 37 degree flare.. the brake line flaring kit you might have in your toolbox is 45*.. So go to
Summit, and buy this to flare the end of the fuel line after you cut it off.. in fact, here is your whole order to complete this deal.

    From Hose warehouse..

IF your going to use a -6 Male T for a live pressure gauge tap, like I did, then you need these fittings from Hose Warehouse
hose warehouse snip robbmc fittings with T.JPG

Note that Hose Warehouse uses a different brand for the female JIC swivel.. the 9026 vs the Eaton 6565..

If your not going to use a T, then just omit the 9026 and hook your line directly to the 90..

And then for just the straight hookup, with no T, here is your summit order..

if your going to use a T for a live pressure gauge, then you need to add a -6 Male T to your summit order.

    Hope that helps..

Larry, that is for the other end, up by the carb.. Most of these guys want the topside to look OE.. so that's the steel line going right into the factory Q-jet fitting.. the challenge is adapting from the pump which is 1/2 NPT, to the steel line, doing it at the right distance, because there is a PS belt right there, and turning it in the right direction..

That's what those fittings i just went thru are for..

Those fittings are also a clean, compact way to adapt your -6 braided stainless hose to the pump.. if your going that way.

Ahh, I forgot the OP was going for the OE look. Very good.

The fitting Jim describes is the one he did for my motor. Here it is mounted and getting ready to go into my GS. The steel line from carb down to the AN fittings is part of the factory Stage 1 fuel line. The fuel tap really comes in handy for tuning and troubleshooting.
