So a couple of years ago when the track in AZ closed I made some changes to make my GS more street friendly, shocks and front sway bar. Now that I'm planning on bringing the car to the nationals next month I wanted to throw the drag shocks back on and I was going pull the monster front sway bar. To get better lift off the line do you have to pull the entire front sway bar setup or can I just remove the pins that connect to the control arms? Just being lazy :)

No reason why you could not just remove the links and zip tie it up out of the way. That said, there is some weight savings to remove it all.

Yeah it is a heavy sucker :)

It is heavy, but it helps equalize traction at the rear. Without it, the LF goes skyward and unloads the LR tire. Cant go fast if you cant put it to the ground....if you loosen the links so the bar can "cant" between the bushings and you shim the frame brackets so theyre not clamping the bar, the bar will not impede the front end lift at all while still keeping the front fairly level.

One reason I was thinking about a total removal is in the past I didn’t run a front sway bar and the car always launched even with out much left front tire drama! Friends used to see other guys yanking that left front up and ask why mine doesn’t do that? I said because mines going forward not up It was a high 11 sec street car and it ran a decent 1.58 60” time.

    Install longer links.

Nice to ditch the weight of the bar off front end of the car as well. I’ve had mine off for over a year now, if you drive sanely, don’t really miss it.

I would remove it all together, but if you at least unhook it from the links then the front suspension can travel.

Its one event and its all bracket / dial in. Leave it be and run dial in whatever number it runs. You dont have to be the fastest guy out there just the most consistent.

I used to put a nylon lock nut on the bottom of the link stud and run it all the way down when I got to the track and back up to go home. Did the trick, helped traction and weight transfer....but yes still carrying the weight of it down the track.

I should probably preface my response by saying this comes from a Pure Stocker/Street Tire perspective. If you have something like an H&R bar in the rear then my comment doesnt apply so much...

Yeah I run the HR rear set up along with a set of no hop bars. Lakewood drag shocks front and back with 9" slicks.
