im not sure which way to go with my front brakes. i have the rear disc setup off of a 92 camaro already, here are my front options. first wilwood makes a g body setup for like 6 or 7 hundred bucks wich looks and sounds great but still has small rotors. option 2, useing caprice style spindles with 12" rotors and the global west upper control arms, i have been told that the different spindle hurts the geometry of the steering, which to me sounds correct, plus those upper arms cost a small fortune. option 3 which i like most is to put corvette C5 brakes on it. i found brackets on ebay at one time that was for a third gen f body which has an identical bracking system ($100), and then you had to buy the calipers (new $200), the rotors (anywhere from $50-500 depending on the company) and then the hardest part to me, a hub for the front that will accept the C5 rotor. now i have found a aluminum hub for this to work but they are 250 bucks, the other option is to use you stock hub and use a lathe to take of the braking surface. the problem now is that i can not find another set of brackets or hubs, they dissapeared?!? anybody else have any ideas or suggestions?

hey thats a great idea, do you have to swap the entire spindle or just the calipers and rotors? i saw a set of dual piston calipers on a 1998 4 wheel drive blazer at the salvage yard, are they the same? do you know how big the rotors are? thanks for another option, i like it so far. :)

ok i have figured out that if you can find this setup, you can easily convert it to the corvette c5 setup with some brackets that you would have to fab up your self. maybe worth it if you can find the set up or maybe i will just stick with the dual piston with slotted and drilled rotors if i can find the setup :Do No:

i doubt you can use the 4 wheel drive setup as wheels sit out farther
then the 2 wheel drive setup but you could try.
mine is off two wheel setup and alot of the gn boys are useing this setup already since they can use stock rims with it .
i think if you get a setup and try it out first then upgrade from there.
i just measured my s-10 setup and the rotors are 11 in
not bad size .if you find slotted or drilled rotors let me know where
i have yet to see them.

i found the drilled/slotted rotors on ebay, item # 8039557754 75 bucks plus shipping which for me is 25 bucks so it would be a hundred bucks. i also found the spindles with calipers, pads, lines and rotors for 300 bucks plus 55 shipping on ebay. im not gonna pay 355 for them and then another hundred for rotors so im gonna have to search the salvage yards i guess. has anyone tried the wilwood setup? any good? looks pretty but does it help braking?

I've got a friend here with a Mulibu that tried the WW's and he couldn't out stop my Wagon with the Robert Adams kit. You'll pay $400 for that setup but it's complete and solid.

the S-10 setup sounds like a good bet though. Any pics?

I have the 12" wilwood kit and am happy with it. I think if there is any stopping problem with it, it has to be due to the brake pad compound. I got mine from hotrodsusa.com who lists on ebay. I think it was $695 with braided hoses and adjustable proportioning valve included.

hey thanks for the info 66larkgs, but that is a bit pricey for my taste. i think when i do this setup im gonna just have the stock hubs milled down to get rid of the brake rotor and maybe shave of a half inch so that the offset does not change much. thanks so much for the info!

    Hi!
I have an 86 regal with 1975 impalla spindles on it. I hang out in stock car circles and we do this swap all the time. I used stock uppers and lowers but modified them to take bigger ball joints. I used the moog upper control arm shaft that is offset about 3/8. As for pads there has to be twenty different componds to choose from different manufactureres from stock to "cheese graters" The 75 spindles are 12 inch and 1 1/4 inches thick! 77 and up impalla ( or any big GM car) are 1 inch thick and use smaller bearings. There are also "howe" spindles that are the same as the 75 spindles but drop the car an 1 1/4 but the steering arms hit the stock sway bar link kits. You can go to a stock car sway bar that has splined ends and different lengh arms to get around this. You can get drilled and slotted rotor for the impalla spindles.
I wouldn't recomend turning down a stock rotor to mount a bolt on rotor!! Stock rotors are cast iron they will break!!!! Go to stock car products web site and get hubs for stock spindle impalla thet are 4140 steel and use bolt on rotors. Stock car stuff is way more stronger that the high dollar stuff and alot more selection in rotors and pads!!! You don't have to be a millionare with stock car stuff either!!
    Good luck !!! Brad
