    Fisher Body "shorthand" build sheet. I'm guessing it was under the passenger side of the seat. Has codes to tell workers how the body was to be configured.

    M40 is TH400 if I remember correctly.

    Probably has to do with the seat option and seat color for the car.

    M40 is a 4 speed Volvo gearbox from 58 to 75.

    And to make sure the right front seat went in the right car. "396" is the number that was assigned to the body. It was written in crayon on side of the firewall. They matched up the number on the sheet with the number on the body.

    One of these days we need to compare all these Fisher body sheets and compare handwriting. See if the same guy was doing them all:D

    138 is a trim code. Black trim and material.

    Oh, so this is from under a volvo seat? Okay then. Sorry thought it was from a Buick you were asking.

    Not to derail the thread, but what number is your SBY Boss? Ours is #44

    If it was a '70 I think the 3437 meant a GS350. If a 71 or 72 it was just a GS irregardless of motor.

    D55 = Auto floor console

    A51 = bucket seats

    C50 = rear window defroster

    A31 = Power windows

    Do any of these fit your car?

    I have found build sheets from other cars, like the one in front of or behind the car in question on the assembly line so if you can't make sense of the paper you found, that's always a possibility.
