But the meme says EVs generate virtually no heat!! You must travel in long johns and a wool snowsuit!

How long can the average electric car run the heater on a full battery?

Most EVs run a heat pump which is much more efficent than a conventional electric space heater. They can run quite a long time, much more than three hours.

Tesla says their heater can run for 38 hours at a minimal setting in below freezing temperatures. I would say our Bolt has at least 20 hours of minimal heater use or a mix of seat heating and minimal heating. I guess we will have to test it this winter outside the garage set to 55 or so.

Our 2012 leaf had a very poor heater and was best preheated in the garage while on the charger. That may be where from this meme comes. It used quite a bit of power for less heat. Preheating it made it more efficient by only needed to maintain the heat already in the cabin. Our 2014 leaf had a much more efficient heater and the 2019 bolt is like night and day over the leaf. The current technology has far outpaced the memes.
