Yea it sounds like my carb might not be tuned correctly, the thing is a dog off the line. My 60' times are 2.3 but thats not because of traction. My 8th mile is 9.854 @ 72.98, its kind of bizzare, the car doesnt seem to wake up untill atleast 2700 rpm. I need to find a carb guru I think. Thanks for the axle codes, I think I'll have another look underneath the car tonight.
Defianatly tune that carb! I had a 2.3 60' time when I ran 15.751. It is also possible they put a wild cam in there, and it's no good with stock converter and gears.
Yea thats the current thought. The car goes to level ten this week for their "unbreakable" TH350 rebuild. It aint cheap, but since this car will eventually go on the spray I'd like it to hold together. We are putting in a mild 10.5" 2400 stall conveter. Thanks for all the help guys!
Ran my car last night to get a "baseline" E.T. before doing any modification's to the car. Stone stock 71 GS350/auto/3.08 Posi, non-air,bench seat. Air temp was mid 80's car went a best of......YUCK, 15.47@88MPH with a 2.26 60 ft.
I finally got my old points distributor out.... It had not run right since before our event at Kearney. I couldn't get the points past 20*. If I did, it would cough and the tach would jump around alot. Come to find out....the coil was dying when it got warmed up. I put a stock HEi unit in with an Accel super coil and spiral wound accel super wires. Huge difference! I guess I know why my plugs had alot of deposits on them now..... ou: All this and it fits under the ram air cleaner...... had to remove the manifold preheater tube though because it sits right on the coil. Got the 2400 converter, and now it runs good.......just gotta go pick up the posi unit and I am back in business. Points :gt: HEI :TU:
