Looks great, what was the paint brand and color of black that he applied. Was it the factory Buick Regal black by Dupont? If in fact Dupont was used back then? Or something else? I ask because mine will need paint soon.
Mike, Nick said it was three coats of single stage black with four coats of clear coat not sure what Brand paint he used.
awesome story man, looks great. I cant believe you were going to sell her with all that history????? My 70 vert has been in the family since December 1969, grandpap bought her for Christmas for grandma. Grandma drove her for 15 years daily, I rode in it all the time as a kid, used to sit in grandmas garage and pretend to drive it when I was little. Dad was the caretaker for the next 15, and now she is mine. Not my first choice of a hot rod, I mean I would definitely pick a GS stage 1 four speed, but she is priceless to me. would never sell. I remember when the GN's came out, I was middle school, always wanted one.......
Thanks for the kind words you know when life gets in the way / Raising a family / you tend to forget all the good times you had when you were younger. I used to love to race the Grand National on Tuesday nights at atco raceway then drive Fridays up to Kings College Scranton PA to see the Wife on the week ends.
Really good story and I love the progress pics. Both cars look fantastic, but I really love the freshness of the GN! KID
Not much progress on the GN other than buying parts to finish putting it back together have too many projects around the house I have to make the wife happy, happy wife happy life.
hey, at least all that garage storage time means the t-top channels aren't rotted out. Two nice rides ya got there.
Thanks for the comments about the car actually that's actually how all the destruction started back in 1992 caught it really early. Decided to strip and paint Back then I was a first class body man an painter.
Funny, I know I posted in your other thread, but I used my GN as a daily most of my senior year at King’s- 2016. Small world!
Yeah I used to use my GN as a daily driver also until 1992 when my insurance went through the roof $3500 that's what I owed so I parked the GN and paid it off and started driving my 71 GS 350 convertible as daily driver used to drive to Kings on the weekends that was a fun drive up the Northeast extension.
Finally starting to make progress on the GN interior, I just got back the driver seat, headliner, and visors back from the upholster. I located a original drivers Bucket seat cover Thanks to Larry Johnson we used it to make The repair to the driver is gray center section where the seams at split.
That rear molding above the rear window is a bitch, when the car was at Nicks shop he took the headliner out and broke one clip. I bought three new ones from highway stars. Great people to deal with highly recommended.
Found an interior T top screw and fastener kit on ebay, some thing Buick vendors do not offer. Mikes monties.com they carry a lot of GN parts. Kit looks mostly correct probably a few extra screws for a different G body interior.
While waiting for a phone call from Nick to Dyno the 474 stage 2 engine I made some progress with the GN I polished tail light lenses and restored the surrounds and reinstalled turned out great. Pictures are a little tight on insulation not a lot of room to work up against the wall.
