So friday night I was out in the skylark, cruising around the normal hangouts. Despite the nice weather, no one was really out, so I decided to head back home. On the way, I decided to cruise thru downtown and see what was going on. I pull up to the one light, and was first in line. While waiting, I see a MkIV supra turbo and a 97-02 Viper GTS pull on from a side street. They caught the next light up, supra in the left lane, and viper in the right (of a 3 lane road). My light turns green and I pull in between the supra and the viper just as their light turns green. The supra rolled off the line slowly, and I didn't see it again. I kept the skylark in first gear, and rolled alongside of the viper until 15-20 MPH. As soon as I saw him take the jump, I laid into the throttle unleashing all 597HP to the BFG drags (20psi) out back. My tires bit the pavement, and in no time his front bumper was at my door.

We had to let off due to traffic, but after passing a few cars, we lined up again, and we both nailed it at the same time, again from about a 20 roll. about half way thru second gear I had about 1 carlength on him. As soon as I let off, I heard a V10 Symphony screaming past my window. He turned off shortly thereafter, as did I, to avoid an enounter with the police, who I am sure had to notice! This was my first encounter I've ever had with one of these, I'm just glad I was in the Buick and not the LS1

    Eric,

I just aqured my first Buick; it's a 1973 Century too. I was wondering if you knew where I could get the rubber insulation for the windows. Any help or a push in the right direction would be greatly appreceated.

    Thanks,

Havent even looked for those yet. Mine are still in good shape. I'm sure there are people on this board that can help though. I'm more worried about getting my roof repainted and a new vinyl top on right now.

That reminds me of the first year that I had upgraded to the Stage one heads. It was also the first year of the GTS Viper. I was following one out of town one day and some traffic was turning left in front of him. I watch him slow down to about 20 to let the person in front of him turn and see him looking back at me.
Well I tell myself this would be a good time to see what these new Vipers have!

The car turns left and sure enough he nails it! I nail it and we are off!

He started about two car lenghts ahead of me but by 90 all he could see in his rear view mirror was my grill about 6" from his rear!

I let off about that time because this was not the road to be going any faster than that on. A little ways down the road he turns off and waves.

It took me a week to get the grin off my face!:) :)

Cant wait to get a Level 1A spec motor in my car w/ a 200r4 behind it. With the 3:08 gear I could really take one on the highway.

I just ran a search on google for mine a while back I found a place but forgot the name and they wanted 399$ for the set. I just cut some rubber off my old 72 and glue'd it in place where the leaks were on my 71.

Is that for the entire tail light assembly or just the gaskets?
