My 72 Skylark recently sat for a month or 2 I got the carb rebuilt and now when I started her up she idles fine but when I hit the gas to bring the idle to steady normal after it warms up a little it immediately start spitting out liquid and white smoke, any ideas greatly appreciated… Here’s a YouTube link I recorded the issue https://youtube.com/shorts/maO5CfHf0Nc?feature=share
Looks perfectly normal. It's water vapor It's cold, and quite a bit of condensation will acquire in the glass packing of the mufflers. Add to that the 10-15% ethanol in gas and that also adds to the water content in exhaust. If you smell a "sweetness" (coolant/antifreeze) then you need to investigate. Take the car out for about a 30 minute drive on back roads or freeway if you can and get it really warmed up and see if it goes away.
Thank you guys so much for the information I greatly appreciate it! I will Definitely take it around for half and hour and see if it stops
Hmm, I don't especially care for the fact that one side has more water than the other. As others said, it's probably just moisture but I would still watch your coolant levels. I had a small intake gasket leak that would manifest itself in a similar way. Once the car warmed up it wasn't there but over a few months I was also losing a few ounces of antifreeze.
