On my 67 i have developed a clicking noise when rotating the steering wheel , which i have discovered is coming from the column at the point where the lower solid shaft enters the sleeve of the absorbing tube. These shafts are secured with two plastic pins which look in good shape and undamaged. By making a very thin wedge from a narrow screwdriver, hammered it in the joint area . Not convinced this is the fix but it stopped the clicking . Has anyone experienced this, and if so how did you rectify it? Thanks Bob

Anyone have suggestions with the cause or fix.

My theory: The pins have sheared off where they secure the two sections together. Or developed some play.

Yes i agree about developing some ever so slight play, but how would they shear without a compresion to the column? There is no sign of looseness in the plastic.
Does anyone know to get new ones??
