Hey so I figured I would ask this in an actual x body portion of the forum. I plan on swapping a Edelbrock performer series intake manifold with a 650 cfm four barrel carb. Has anyone had issues doing a similar swap? Such as the hood contacting the top of the motor after that? Or any other issues?

I'm assuming you have a 455, and is it a holley 650? it there shouldn't be any fitment issues but I cant say for sure. actually I don't think I know of anyone using the edelbroch intakes on the 455 x-bodies....

650 CFM carb for a 455 is mighty small ..

We put a 625 cfm carter on a stock 75 V6 and it picked up a tenth over the 500. It fit under the hood just fine on a Skyhawk. You can't be talking a 650 on a 350 or 455 is that a mistake?

My GS 455 has an edlebrock 850 :Brow: I believe a 700 or 750 was stock for a 455 back in 1970. I think the 1970 GS 350's had at least a 650. I think some BBB Qjets were 800. the exact numbers are a little fuzzy at the moment but for sure the higher hp 455's had way more than 500cfm. If the engine is cammed and built for Hi Hp than you will need to feed it more CFM's if you want it to give you more performance.

Hey sorry for taking so long, had to make a new account haha. No its a 71 pontiac 350, do you all think it would all fall flat on it's face? I also didnt think a big block could fit in the 77 year of the Skylark. If any of you have managed it are there any tips you could pass along??
