Edelbrock B4B - Factory air cleaner assembly retrofit

I installed an Edelbrock B4B on my GS 455.

As most of you know, the B4B carburetor mounting pad sits differently than the original intake manifold. Consequently, the original air cleaner snorkels do not line up with the hood scoop under hood plates when using the factory air cleaner assembly with the B4B.

Has anyone been successful in retrofitting the original ram air cleaner base so that it aligns with the hood scoops when using the B4B?

The general consensus is to use the Performer if you want to keep the factory breather with snorkels. Other than originality and looks, it doesn't improve performance and may actually decrease it.

    Thanks Greg for your reply.

I'm using the B4B with Holley config, as I'm using the original S2 iron heads on this car.

I believe that is why the went to a Stage 2 scoop on a Skylark hood. It actually worked.

It doesn't miss align bad enough to hurt anything just omit or use different seal plate hardware where they meet the fiberglass bucket

I feel like this old myth has been overhyped.

Mine lines up fine and is probably less than a half inch away from the stock location.

I sold an aircleaner a few years ago that the hole was cut out and repositioned so it would line up with the hood seal plates on the hood..Seemed to be alot of work for minimal gain(if any gain) But, I guess that's ingenuity at it's best.

Mine was off by an inch and I couldn't run foam seals because it was right against the bottom of the seal plates. I ran it like that for years. I also flipped the lid over to keep it from starving for air.

I'll post a picture of mine next time I'm with the car.
