Hey all, I'm looking at doing the front disk brake conversion on my '69 Sport Wagon 400. I have been waiting and researching for the most affordable way to do it using new and/or rebuilt parts and 2" dropped spindles. I originally planned on going with the SSBC kit from Jegs, but they cost $1200! I did some more research and found a kit from performancesuspension.com for $995. I did even further research and found a kit on Ebay, although it's not fully complete it includes 11" rotors, 2" drop spindles, calipers with pads, bearings, seals, and dust caps all for about $400. They also sell a combination master cylinder/porportioning valve setup too for another $200 that looks pretty nice. Am I smoking crack thinking that I can get away with a whole kit similar to the others for only about $600?? Am I missing something here? Isn't that all that's needed for the conversion? Doing it this way would also allow me to buy a set of stainless hoses from Jegs for $70 instead of using the junky rubber ones that are included in all the kits.

Has anyone tried doing it this way? Recommend it? I'll be buying the stuff pretty soon, any opinions/suggestions would be great! I need to be able to stop my beast when I get back from being overseas, it'll be my daily driver for a month or two. Thanks!

Oh man no way! P-S-T.com is the most expensive!!! They want $1279 for practically the same kit that Jegs sells for $1199 (standard disk brake conversion kit w/2" drop spindles). Their Alum-max 2 piston aluminum calipers upgrade looks like the same as the SSBC's Force 10 upgrade, but not quite as expensive. I think I'm going to just go with performancesuspension.com their kit is practically the same as the others and $200 less. Probably won't be on the car until June, but I'll let the board know how it goes.

Go to Master Power Brakes. MPbrakes.com I think. They are the best and have great stuff and reasonable prices. Here's their web site:

    Right Stuff Detailing....

Front Disk comversion with power booster is $695, 2" drop is a $69 option.

Repo power brake booster with 'Delco Moraine' stamp is $199.

They offer a VERY complete line of parts!
I picked up their catalog from Carlisle last year....it's impressive!
They even offer show specials, so try to pay them a visit.

For some reason, I couldn't find mid-size Buick on their website????So look at their GTO/Olds sections.

Is there anything different about a '69 riviera with drums all the way around that would not allow other full size GM/Buick front disk conversions to work?

I'd like to go further than just the conversion and see if some GM Baer-sport front brake set could be made to work.

Could I do a conversion on the Riv to some GM full size and then get Baer rotors/calibers intended for the car I would convert it to?
