Ever clean your chrome 15” wheels & then have to touch up any overspray on the wheels after spraying your tire shine?
I figured out one day in the 1980’s that my cars ram air lid fit PERFECTLY (and stayed there!) on my 15” wheels.
I took an extra lid and lock nutted a 1/4-20 threaded rod in the carb stud hole and bent a handle on it.
Made tire shining or touch up MUCH more speedy.
This isn’t that lid but shows the nice fit.

Problem now is finding a tire shine that actually works.

A few years back I bought a "Wheel Shield" same concept-it is a plastic disc with a handle in the middle. It had indentations to indicate 15", 16", 17"' so you could trim it down to the size you need. Very handy-I'll have to look for it I know it's in the garage somewhere!

Yes, those were great! I bought one of those for the heck of it and it worked great till I accidentally stepped on it under a big car towel.
Gotta love metal AND it’s GM approved lol

You drive so fast no one could appreciate tire shine through all the tire smoke anyway:eek::D:D

I use 303 protectant because I'm not a fan of glossy tires.

Mine is home made too. used a plastic sheet that is same thickness and corrugated like cardboard. used a compass to draw my circle, cut out with a razor blade and added a round drawer pull to the center.
    I also use 303 protectant.
