Who has installed E-track in their enclosed trailer (s)? I have a 30 foot Haulmark Edge and I want more areas to tie down & secure my vehicle. Can I affix the E-track to my existing 4 "D" rings for the length of the trailer? Regards, Upstaged in Michigan.

Don't dare trust E-Track to hold down a car. It's only rated at, I believe, 3000 lbs. A motorcycle maybe, but never a car.

Thanks Brad. I am looking to add other tie down points to my trailer. Any other products or ideas ?? Upstaged in Michigan.

Another D-Ring but you must attach it through metal under the plywood, just like the factory mounted your existing D-Rings. I looked under my trailer and Haulmark welded heavy plate steel to the frame and then drilled through the floor and the plate and mounted the D-Ring.

I owned an 18 wheeler trailer dealership for 21 years. The right type of e-track post and fixture will hold any car. My service department maintained several NASCAR and CART double deckers (Conquest Trailer built by Dorsey in Elba AL) and the cars all were secured to e-track. Again these were double step galvanized structural side posts are recessed floor members not the light stuff you pop rivet to your plywood. Any 18 wheel trailer dealer should have what you need.

I had a custom built trailer for my race car when I race SCCA and used this type attachments. Never had a problem with my own car. Just get the right stuff.

I am far from an expert here but I can't see where the common "E-track" we see advertised would be of any benefit on the floor of a regular single car hauler trailer. As mentioned, I would never trust that system but even at that, having it running under the car does you no good because typically there isn't enough room for a ratchet strap or binder to work when you get that close to the car.

The track-type tie down system on large multi-car auto transport trailers is awesome but that system can not be easily adapted to the common single car trailers. Thats why it is not common on even the big name brand single car transport trailers. These systems are heavy duty compared to the common E-Track branded system and typically incorporates a compact ratching mechanism to take up the slack as well as having more space between the car frame and the track system.

The E-track system is seen most commonly in box trailers running it horizontally part way up the wall to secure items that way. I don't think it is designed to secure 4000lb car. And even it it was, one look at a piece of it and common sense would take over.

I have to agree with what was already mentioned about the recessed D-rings being very desireable. My trailer has the more universal u-channel pockets welded to the sides but I installed 4 D-rings as well and use those most often.
