I was signed up this year... car is still welded to a chassis table and we're like a month out so ya.. ill be spectating. Anyways, here is where I'm at on the motor side. 74 455 Lifter and main girdle Stock crank Billet caps Molnar rods Pistons I still need Hyd roller, low lift cam Stage 1 heads Blow through Billet 80 Borg Going to keep rpms sub 6k Running ms3 pro for ignition and boost control. Plan on leaving the line like a turd and bringing in the power during 2nd gear. 9.80 avg for the week is the goal Contemplating a 1/2 fill or just above freeze plugs, But worried about cooling. Open to suggestions, chit chat, and haters. No one I know shares my infinity for Buick so I came and joined this club.
Welcome, I was running a F1c-94 Procharger setup on mine , I'm a power adder guy so feel free to hit me up anytime, I've posted that setup for sale in hopes of doing twin S475's or a single large frame, 25.5 build. Sounds like a solid plan look forward to seeing your progress
Thanks! It is but we just bought a house and ate getting married in October so I was pushing it to begin with. I was in street race small block power adder. It was originally going to be an LS car but I'm sick of seeing those and have a 455 so might as well stay legit. Nice! How much power were you making on the f1 and what's your motor setup? 25.5 is the way to go. I'm staying with the 8.50 cert just for drag week which seems dumb but will probably keep my wallet happier.
Around 900 im sure, was a 650/700ish NA setup that I just strapped the blower on with 6lbs,..felt pretty wild even with the poor converter trying to keep up. Was a stock rod shortblock with no girdle. New engine is a 523cid fuel injected Tomahawk build. I was E85 Blow thru
Welcome. Sounds like a cool project. About the only hater you'll run into is me. The rest of these guys are very knowledgeable, and helpful. Keep us posted on your build.
Right on man. Might have to talk to you about that in detail sometime. Thanks for the info! Have anything to do with a short crank? Haha jk Man, thanks for the interest!
Nope. It's cause I watched that car in your avatar for a few months on Craigslist, and when I finally decided to buy it, you beat me to it by a day or two. This look about right? It's OK though. I got over it. Are you in Wisconsin? I wouldn't mind seeing the car while it's getting all the fab work done. I'm also going to be building an '81, but it'l have a SBB in it.
Haha son of a bitch. Yup, I went and gave him a $500 Check until I had time to get it. He said there were a few guys he had talked to. Yup, I'm in Waukesha county. We haven't touched it much this year. Been welded to a chassis table since march.
That's almost exactly what I said. I remember telling Justin, "if he backs out of the deal call me". He never called. Will you be going to all the drag week tracks this year? I might be visiting one on my way to the GS Nationals. We'll see how it works out as the dates near.
Haha I just messaged Justin and told him about this. I'll be at Great Lakes for sure, it's only 20 min down the road from me. Thinking I might go to Byron too. I have a bunch of buddies from all over competing so it'd be good to see them.
Not at drag week. I'm locked to the Buick per the registration. I have a 91 reg cab short box ranger with an ls and a t5 that's like 60% finished and then I'm part owner in a 66 f100.. but that th8ngs farther from done than the Buick
You are not locked into the vehicle for Drag Week registration. People bring different vehicles ALL the time. The person is registered, that is the only thing that cannot change. i.e. you can not give or sell your spot to someone. If a friend want's to go with their car, you can show up on tech day with it so long as you are there all week with it and register the friend as an additional driver, even if the friend is the one running it down the track daily. Anything you can put race tires, pass tech (for slower than 11.50's is pretty easy), and is registered and insured to either you or the friend is fair game for entrance on your registration. If it's going to be your first Drag Week, you really really should participate if you have a spot. Bolt drag radials/slicks to something and go run 12-15's all week. Get a sense of how it works and enjoy!
Well ****, that's not how I interpreted the rules at all. I suppose I could have asked. I already gave up my spot. My daily runs 14 flat lol I would have taken that
You mentioned a co-owned '66 f-100 and I thought maybe this was you. http://www.streetrodlife.com/features/ultimate-roadkill-trip/
Nope lol that's a sweet truck though.i think my buddys buying me out of my deal cuz I have too much crap but this is ours.
