I need part numbers for 1971 A-Body Front Disc Brake Banjo Bolt. Having some difficulty sourcing locally for drum to disc upgrade on my 70' Skylark. TY, Jim
I see a 484-200.1 Banjo Bolt Washer 7/16 In.-20 X 7/8 In. Application Summary: Buick 1978-73, Cadillac 1978-74, Chevrolet 1977-72, GMC 1978-71, Oldsmobile 1977-71, Pontiac 1977-71 Not 100% sure as Buick is 73 to 78? Jim
The bolt size for those calipers changed a few times over the years.. unless you're sure they are 71 calipers I'd measure the threads before i ordered anything.
According to the Buick parts book, ‘69-‘71 used GM 1385356, which is 7/16 x 20 x 1 3/32”. ‘72 used GM 487293, which is 7/16 x 20 x 7/8”. The Dorman bolt crosses to the ‘72 number. If you need the longer bolt it appears the Camaro people have a source. (Most aftermarket brake catalogs list the same caliper and hose from ‘69-‘72, so maybe they just chose to use a shorter bolt after ‘71?). https://www.heartbeatcitycamaro.com/store/product/12272/1967-1978-Camaro-&-Firebird-Disc-Brake-Caliper-Hose-Mounting-Bolt-GM#-1385356/ Patrick
Thanks guys. Very much appreciated. I'm pretty sure my calipers are '71, not positive . I'll run the numbers on them to verify when I get home....that should help point me in the right direction. Will update when I find the correct banjo bolts.....
I tried swapping calipers on from a mid 70s camaro due to some monetary issues once and the banjo bolt was 3/8 or maybe metric.. anyway it wouldn't work. I had no idea in a length change.
When I replaced my front calipers I just used the Autozone banjo, the brakes were all stock (71) and it fit. https://www.autozone.com/engine/banjo-adapter/edelbrock-banjo-bolt/167696_0_0
Visited OReillys at lunch between jobsites. Had caliper and hose in hand. $12 for 2, Dorman 13935. Will run the caliper numbers and post what I find out. Jim
