Does 0.04" off a '72 head equal 65cc?

    All,
Does this seem reasonable for calculation sake? I measured the cc's but am interested if the head change nessesitates a pushrod length change? I measurd the distance from the valve cover machined surface to the deck on a stock and the one in question and 0.04 was the difference.

    Merry Christmas

Yes that would for certain make me want to measure for proper pushrod length.

I dontnput a motor together without doing this anyway.........its a simple process

Thanks Ben! Are gasket thickness determined by test fitting also? Is this too much for a stock intake manifold gasket? Anyone run no exhaust manifold gasket?

Having that much cut off the heads you will certainly need yo check port alinement between the intake and head. Intake thickness csn help fix this issue

.005" cut is equal to 1cc with these heads.

My 71 heads measured 73cc. A .040” cut took them down to 61cc and raised compression 1.17 points. Hope that helps. .027” cut would take my heads to 65cc
