THESE #$%^&* SENT ME A BENT TWISTED BUMPER ABOUT NOVEMBER 2003 ( IT'S A 72 FRONT BUMPER) it wasn't until about 8 weeks ago that I had first put it on the car and found out how bad it was, thats when things started to go wrong, I had sent back the bumper to them costing me $120.00 to send it back asking them to send me a good straight 72 bumper, they said that all I bought was a used core and that was that for only $375.00 and if I would want a straight rechrome bumper that I would have to pay them another $175.00, so I did then about 3 weeks ago I get a wrong package in the mail from them, come to find out somebody on there end shipped out 12 packages to 12 different people and I was one of them :Dou: so I call them and tell them about the problem and they think that I have my bumper. So to make a long story short, I get my bumper yesterday and it is a 71 FRONT BUMPER  , now I call the guy up and he says that the 71 and 72 front bumpers are the same:mad: and I tell him that he is wrong and that the 72 has holes round the front edge for a strip of black rubber and he says he checked with some other out fit that deal in bumpers and they say that 71 and 72 are the same and I still say noway, then he says to make it right for him to send me a UPS sticker so to send back the bumper to him and that is where I ask him to send back my money for the bumper and he laughs over the phone and says noway and I told him that I sent people to him for parts and he says he doesn't care, then I told him I would tell every body that I know to stay away from him and he says oh your threatening me then you'll just have to take it up with your credit card company and disputed with them :af:

I'll let you know how things turn out now I'm stuck with 71 rechromed front bumper:Dou:
I JUST FOUND OUT TODAY (5-30) THAT THIS IS NOT A 71 BUMPER BUT MIGHT BE A 67 BUMPER. SEE EVEN DVAP DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE SENDING YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. If you dispute it with your credit card co, they should find in your favor if all the correct facts are presented, and they will reverse the charge, which does then come out of DVAP. As to the diff between 71/72 bumpers, I don't know the answer to that, but it sounds like you do. Good luck, hope you can get it resolved. I've read bad reports elsewhere on DVAP.

    bad company to deal with

Thanks for the reply, about an hour ago I called the credit card company and they asked if I had contacted them about my problem and I said yes, they said that since they already charged $450.00 to the card all they can do is transfer my account to another number so that they can't charge me the other $175.00 and they will send me two new cards with new numbers in 7 to 10 days, so I did it.
They (credit card co.) said for me to get legal advice on the problem with DVAP, like small claims court.
So I will keep every body posted. :Comp:
I would be interested to know if anybody else has had a bad experience with DVAP:rant:  :spank:

I callled them once for the price of a used core support, hood and front fenders...........$500 for the suppport (which they did not have anyway) and $500 a piece for the fenders, which they also did not have. The hood they did have, they wanted $350 for it. Not including shipping.

    Kinda pricey.

DVAP should join up with C.A.R.S.

I called that place about a rear taillight for my LeSabre. They wanted $175 for one that they would not guarantee the condition of. BUT, having learned my lesson because of C.A.R.S., I told them to forget it. I ended up finding an absolutely perfect one at Wheatbelt Antique Auto for a third of that. And they did guarantee its condition. There are some good people out there. Wheatbelt treated me very well.

Yes, Wheatbelt is a very good place to deal with. Their prices are fair and their quality is good.........they will tell you if there is any imperfections on what you are buying. Once I got a used remote rear veiw mirror from them, $35 and it was near perfect.

It's just a shame that 6 months later a deer ran into the side of my car and broke it off!:af:

I live in Arizona and have been to their Yard and have bought from them. But I wont go back either,I must have got the same guy as you talked to. I went over to look for some hood hinges awhile back. I asked if they had any , they said dont think so, asked if I could look around, and did. After an hour I did find one, only by luck. It was under the car half buired in the dirt, rusty.would not close even with spring off. I thought oh well I can probably get it for not to much money and see how it cleans up.Took it to office and said found one. how much do you need for it? Mind you this is one, not pair. Guy says $75.00, I say seems high for the condition its in. how about $35.00, which even that seemed like I was paying to much. He laughs and say, " I might as well open a junk yard selling chevette parts if Im going to sell parts that cheap" then laughs more at his own joke. I resist the urge to exchange smart remarks, and say thanks but no thanks.
    I share your feelings.

I visited the yard a couple of years ago and looked at a "project car" 1968 GS 400. This car was solid of course but literally looked like it had been out in the desert for 100 years, bullet holes, tumbleweeds and all. Which was fine except on the phone he told me that it was A) complete and B) a great restoration project.

Yes it was not rusted out but it would have required as many hours to fix the mangled sheet metal just the same. From his description I was expecting a complete, rolling car to restore. You would have had trouble winching it on a flatbed in the condition it was in: no wheels, no glass, seats were just springs and the hood and trunk lid were missing. Spray painted in big orange letters was the word MOTOR?

Then he told me that it was $3800.

Thanks for wasting my time! He was extremely rude to me and I left with all my cash still in the wallet. I was not even really mad, just amazed at what some people think passes for customer service.

    Good luck!

The worst thing about getting prices from them is that they use Speedway for a reference as to the value of a Buick part. The get it somewhere else attitude of these used parts suppliers will be their undoing. Time will tell as the "highly desirable" parts they have slowly rust into the ground and become worthless. If their prices were more in line with "market value" I would save as many HTF parts as I could.

The customer service at these places(DV, Speedway, CARS) really amazes me. I won't even get into how I was treated on the phone by Speedway. But I believe that all of it is their way of dealing with excess business. To much workload? We'll just run half of it off(permanently).
The smaller places that you don't hear so much about are well worth locating.

Hey guys, if you are still searching for parts, try this place. Memory Lane Auto Wreckers in Sun Valley, CA. I called them looking for quarters and a trunk lid for my 73 Riv and thier price beat Speedway and DVAP by alot!! Nice to deal with and very fast shipping. Here is thier phone number 1-800-281-9273. They deal in all makes and models of cars, not just buicks.
If anyone else has ever dealt with them please post a reply. My dealings with them was 100% flawless.
    Thanks,
    Tony

That's right Tony, Memory Lane is a very good place to deal with.
Been there a few times when I was in CA,
Phoned them a few weeks before my first visit and all my parts were there, already taken off the cars en cleaned in a nice box.

When I came back there in the next couple of years, they still knew my first name !

They also helped me out finding a nice motel and with the shipping of parts.

    Sloan Museum

Too everybody who has read this I called Sloan Museum gave them my info on the car and I found out that this originally came with the N6 option, black rubber strips front and rear, now I need to find a 72 front bumper and I'm also looking for a better rear bumper too.
I plan on calling that place in California to see if they have any bumpers if I can't find them here first:beer
Thanks everybody and I will keep you posted :Comp:

When we all stop buying any parts from places that have shoddy customer service, maybe it will send a well timed message to them. What goes around comes around and folks that take advantage of others always get bit on the butt sooner or later!

Re: bad company to deal with

I can't believe the cc comp made you change numbers. :puzzled:

Last time I disputed, even if more charges were pending, they just told me not to pay them. Anyway, thank God you paid by CC.
That's the ONLY way to pay for parts from vendors anymore. Then they can be held accountable for their lack of ethics, because the CC company has more money and power (i.e. attourney fees) than these shady vendors do.

Notice how Year One (in most cases) is such a huge company? They didn't get that way by telling their customers "F-U".

It all comes out in the wash.

    bad rechrome work

If I call them about this they would tell me to send back the bumper and pay the other $175.00 and then they would sit on this for as long as it takes because the sales man told me he did not have a 72 front bumper and I don't think that they would go out of there way for me:blast: , so here are some more great rechrome pics

If they sold spray touch up chrome this wouldn't look bad

Lifes little problems just seem to grow bigger every day, in the openings of both sides where you can see it when the bumper is up like as if on the car there is no chrome in the bottom corners

    bumper does look good otherwise

I was planning on selling this for $300.00 before I had a good look at it, now I don't think that I could even get $150.00 for it I have to much money tied up in it so I'm going to find out how much more it would cost me to have it rechromed again :Dou: , here is one last pic of it
