Repacking the front wheel bearings on the X. Does anyone have an original wheel bearing washer they can measure for me?

The one on my car is 1.655 in diameter. I seem to recall the originals are smaller

I wound up picking up that exact kit from advance auto. Notice the flat on the washer. Mine weren't like that. And the diameter was slightly larger than the factory ones so they cut a groove in the dust cap! Problem solved.

    Nothing is ever easy....

Some of the grease caps have what looks like a weird shaped brass “spring” inside them that is made to move the grease to the bearings. I have seen them before but do not know what years they were for or if they were original or not. That might be what he is referring to.

That spring is a ground strap. The grease can (slightly) insulate the wheel and tire from the rest of the car and create radio interference.
