I hate racing on the street. It only takes maybe a block and a half before my 455 makes me feel uncomfortably fast for street driving. And then the knucklehead that I just whooped on feels like he needs to blow by me three blocks down the road. Must be some kind of barbarian pride thing...........sounds like something Sadam Husein would do. But I tell you what takes the cake is when they ask me if I've got a 454 in my Chevelle:af:

Ah yes the infamous Ricer Fly-By...

...ask how they got a Geo to go that fast...

Yes, this is a real, often documented phenomenon.

It IS called "Ricer Fly By". Somehow they think that after they've been wasted, that if they fly by you at very illegal speeds, somehow they really won after all. At least that's what they tell their buddies (and themselves).

I'd just once like to see them get busted for it, because it's more dangerous than the drag race was to begin with!

Ah! Then you'll want to come visit Calgary...

John Laurie Blvd is a nice rolling foothills. When it crosses Shaganappi there's a 3 lane lineup where you'll usually encounter a ricer coming home from an evening at the mall complex at the end of JL Blvd.

The cops wait in the trees just past the rise on the second hill, about 1/4 mile away. That's my regular run between home and the shop. I see a ricer once a week on average during the summer. I can personally attest to having fed 2 of `em to the fishes myself. :TU:

    Possibley another ricer phenomena

OK, I appreciate the helpful identification of a "Ricer Fly by". What about the early take off. All of these Ricers know that there is a breif period where both lights at an intersection are red. I've had them take off the line way before the light even turns green and they think they've beat me off the line. This tends to annoy me also :af: Is that really the best they can do? Pathetic.

At least a Cheby will put up a fight!

on the steet, those ricer guys figure that if they take off before you they win, off the line any way. but when you get those same ricers at the track (where it matters) the get like 2-2.5 sec reaction times. once, i even caught a guy in a riced out prelude closing a deal on his cell, then he whined to me after i walked all over him that he wanted a rematch. i laughed and told him to make another call.
