Yes. '78-80 share the same body. '78 and 9 had different grills, and single headlights. '80 had an ugly front end on it. It was the first year for 4 headlights. '81-'87 shared the same body. The '81-'83 had a bit more angular header panel near the grill. The '84-'87 header was a more laid back, and sleeker looking. I prefer the 81's. I think that they had better looking grills than the 82's or 3's I'm not positive, but I'd bet the frames interchange between 78-80 and 81-87 got their own frame.

The early 78-80 have a different body than 81-87. The early cars have a more boxy appearance. They look shorter than the later ones. Here's a pic of my '79. Note the rear side window is integrated with the front, the rear deck is higher, and the wheel arches are different.
