LOL. you would have to comment on that, I was about that age when I did short of a frame off on my GS, that was 28 years ago, damn I ache now. Fortunately Im capable of doing everything myself, except engine machining, transmission, rear end, so that saved me TONS of money. Mine too, Im sure many on here have some sort of attachment to their vehicle, for some (me included) we do it because we enjoy the hobby, and the end result, and drive the crap outta it To hell "what its worth when done" mentality. You cant put a price on happiness, and enjoyment, and for me, my state of mental health, LOL
Im nearing the end of 3.5 years on a frame off on my 70gs drove it to the first small local car Get together.. It was all worth it $ the sound of that jw 482 big block through big tube headers 3 inch exhaust system out the back yeee haaaww put a ear to ear grin on my face... roasting the rears at any time on demand LoL newer cars just dont do it for me .. looking forward to finishing all the unfinished items terrorizing my town with it lol .(when im not working or fishing)
Think of all the money people spend on lavish vacations ( or used too) entertainment, dining, or even drugs. All those are "one hit wonders" experience it, enjoy it, "wow that was cool" and its done, you go home. At least dumping more money into a car than what it will be worth when its done, that car will always be there for your enjoyment, your hobby, or your "get away" from the wife for awhile People do the same thing with homes, put more money into them than they will recover upon sale, they do it 'cause they like it, want too, or it makes 'em feel good
Yep, greens fees, cruise tickets, hunting trips, etc are money spent for experiences and memories that we’ll treasure but aren’t tangible. Patrick
OK, I'll chime in, GS Nats, 1997?, this question was asked in the "meeting" at host hotel with car inside conference room, mic was passed around to answer, and all replied, " alot of money"!
