I am working on my 1968 GS California car which is a stock 350/ST300. I am trying to pull the original radiator to get it tested/ultrasonicly cleaned... The lower Trans cooling line nut doesn't want to turn on the line. This means I will either crush the line trying to hold it still, or twist the line trying to turn the nut. Inline tube sells reasonably priced cooling lines, but they all seem to be for the TH400 or power glide (why?) I wonder if any of you know off hand of either of those sets of lines cross with the ST300? I tried calling the Inline tube people, but they were not helpful ("If it isn't listed on the website, it probably doesn't cross") Thanks in advance for any info on this.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the lines are probably the same. I think the cooling lines exit the transmission in the same general spot. You could always just cut the line and splice in a new section at the radiator with rubber hose and clamps or a compression fitting. Or, you can run push lok hose and fittings through the frame.
A tubing bender and a flare kit will make that line in 10 minutes. Or soak it for a few days with PB blaster and try again
Ok, Thanks for the ideas, they are appreciated. I have been trying the PBblaster soak and wait technique, along with a small pipe wrench and a flare fit. No joy yet...
Making lines is a good exercise, be sure they cannot rub on anything (and rub thru like mine did). Personally I would (and have) solve the problem by replacing the TH300 with a TH400. But lines are about the same, shifter shaft maybe not. good luck, Bruce Roe
