I know this is an odd question, but you guys know I'm odd. :moonu:

Does anyone who is going to Temple have expertise in stapling a convertible top?

The trim strip along the back above the back window on my GS has come loose and I can't get it to stay stapled. I don't have a power stapler and the longest stainless staples I have are 3/8". I don't have time to take it to my upholesterer all the way in Irving prior to the race and would hate to have it flap all the way to Temple.

Here is the deal Dee, 3/8 staples should hold the top to the tack strip however, there is a chance that the tack strip itself may be worn out. The back half of the top will need to be removed so a new tack strip can be installed. Unfortuantly this require a shop and a little time. This was from my father in law. Hope this helps a little.

Well, it's a new top with new tack strip. Don't think we put enough :moonu: when we stapled the trim strip down with a regular stapler.

Did you just try to call me here at work? A 512 Austin number just popped up on caller ID.

It was not me dee, If someone has an Air compressor at the track I can bring an Air Stapler and some staples. :TU:

If somebody has a generator, I can bring a 6.5 CFM@90 PSI 110VAC compressor to the track...

    Dee,
Do you know of anyone that works for a Telephone Company?
Try and borrow their T-75 Staple Gun & some staples.
If It will hold 25pr Telephone wire to the side of a House, I am SURE it will hold the Tack strip down.

I have a T-50 and plenty of 9/16 staples if that will work...

    Are they stainless 9/16 staples?

I'm going to look at electric staple guns on my lunch hour today to see how expensive they are.

If the winds keep up like they have the last couple of days, I'm afraid my top my not be in one piece when I get to Temple.

I think an full portable air tank would run the staple gun. They dont use much air. If you run low refill the tank at a gas station and come back.

You could get a nasty windburn if your top isn't in one piece... :Brow:

Picked up an electric stapler cheap at lunch. Going to see if it will do the trick before taking it out on the road.

With the way the wind has been blowing the last couple of days, it would take the hair right off the top of my head! :Dou:

    Good news! Top is fixed.

Problem was 5/16" staples were used instead of 3/8". Replaced all of them last night and looks like she'll hold together now! :beer
