I want to upgrade from factory control arms & springs front & rear for my 1966 Buick Skylark. Looking to keep it factory height SBB. Let me know what you've done with your rides and what you would recommend. Just looking for an upgrade for a daily driver / cruiser.
I used chineseum uppers and lowers in the front but swapped out the ball joints. I used southside lowers and UMI adjustable uppers in the rear. So far everything is great. Can’t help you on the springs though. I dropped mine a couple of inches overall and eventually will be on four-way air ride. I have to go four-way so I can autocross it or play on good curves. Going to get this pig to pull a full G yet! lol
I used CPP uppers and lowers in the front and UMI upper and lower in the rear. Global West springs front and rear. Most aftermarket performance springs will lower your ride height. If you're looking for stock ride height why don't you just replace the springs with new original spec springs and rebuild the factory control arms? Both are perfectly fine for a daily driver cruiser. If you're looking for a handling upgrade go with a coil over setup from QA1 or similar. Then you can adjust your ride height to where you want it.
UMI control arms are excellent, US made and affordable. They offer stock height springs as well, so you can have better handling without lowering the whole car. I went with UMI control arms, springs, anti roll bars, etc. Very happy with the results.
I ordered custom springs from Laura at Espo Srings & Things. Very reasonable, I ordered stock plus 2 inches for the stance I wanted. A friend has the UMI stuff and really likes it too.
