column vs floor shifter

    which one is better? i am wanting a floor shifter. and suggestion

    I think it is a matter of preference. I do have a '73 automatic floor shifter for sale on the board - not totally sure if it fits the '75 Skylark but if you find it does let me know if you are interested (there is one person in line but I'm waiting to hear back from them).

    yea thats what i got. but i saw people had problems with the linkage. what all would i have to do? just take the linkage from the column to the shifter cut a hole. and put the linkage to the shifter?

    yes, and it takes a little adjusting with some trial and error, but it isnt that difficult.

    o. i thought b and m was together. hmmm. i will take pics of the shifter. it doesnt have a boot. lost it in moving.

    Racing shifters are great for racing when you have to make quick and precise shifts.

    yea i got the b&m megashifter. it just the shifter and nothing else. lol. lost a few things here and there.

    all i have is the shifter and a small cable.. is that all i need or is there more parts i need

    thanks DaWildcat..

    looks complicated. i got the indicator cable. people said you might rig it and make the stock linkage work..

    You will at least need the actual shift cable or something similar that will work dependably and repeatedly. Don't forget about neutral safety as well. Your car and garage, someones parked car or a pedestrian may benefit from your efforts.

    In other words, some things really should be done right.

    Tyler, I sure can sympathize with that. I haven't been working since '08. Can't believe the new year is upon us already.

    im just in the situation where i owe 10,000 and no license. i hardly ever drive my car. just mess with thins and that. sand on the door jams. good project.
