A gentleman in this forum seems to be quite supportive of the Buick hobby. He also was supportive in my endeavors in writing a book.

Alas, when I was finished with my book and offered to sell him a rare Buick book for less than what I had bought it (as a token of my appreciation), I thought it would be no fuss. This was in June 2016.

I sent a reminder 6 weeks later on July 28, 2016. Then September 1, 2016. Then September 23rd. Then November 30th. Jan 23, 2017. Feb 19th ("this has been going on for 6 months already....").

Then I let it drop because it was getting absurd.

Yet on April 23, 2018, I was asked a favor to look up something in an old magazine, to which I replied, "Please reread the previous few messages. I sent you a book awhile ago and have yet to receive payment - This after several repeated attempts and promises. This is from 2016. So can you give me a good reason why I should help?"

And that was the last contact. Responses have always involved a promise, but never follow-up.

The Buick book I sold him was $56.45. But it gets worse, because a friend had 1984-ish GS Nats pics/negatives. I can't remember how this came about, but the gentleman in question wanted to scan them as some sort of historical record for the club. My friend lent him the negatives maybe 2 years ago, but has never heard back. And my friend is the kind of guy that doesn't like to make a fuss – in fact, he'd be embarrassed that I'm trying to right this wrong for him but the truth is that I'm embarrassed that I endorsed someone who hasn't proven to be trustworthy.

And the gentleman who has taken well over two years to send me money for the book, and to return my friend's images?

What a DACK (with an eye) ! Theres been a lot of times Ive picked interesting stuff up on the cheap (garage sales etc) and always had someone in mind that might like the item. I'll usually tell them I have a surprise for them and get the shipping info. Their reply is "I love it, whats it cost" after they receive it. For a few bucks from me, I tell them its on me, or let your conscience be your guide, plus the shipping. Thats the killer anyway. Many times I have sent back a 3rd response, "Thanks for your generosity". I may have been PP'd $10.00 for a $2.00 item.

Some stuff I find just to flip; like Model T stuff or the like. For ebay strangers it Caveat Emptor. (Buyer Beware). I have yet to encounter a DACK on V8. I sincerely hope you guys can get this worked out. I dont think the doofus is doing this intentionally, just getting sidetracked by the honey do lists LOL.. ws

I've had nothing but great, trusting transactions with V8Buick members. It's a shame that members like that make others not as trusting in future transactions.

I have helped way more than I have been helped on many Bick forums etc..I have even sent out parts before payment on many things(I know,I know)as I trust people.I have only been had 2-3 times but not for high dollar parts. I also send copies of the GSX stripe dimensions on my dime and never ask for any payment. That's just who I am..A year or so back,I found some interesting pictures of a certain prototype GSX car and sent them to the owner. He is a great friend of mine and I thought nothing of it. I do feel humbled when someone sends me a freebie or even when they drop a few bucks in the mail to me after they receive things from me.I hope this deal resolves itself quickly. As I have stated many times, your word is your word.Stand by it.I even had a deal where I lost money on an intake I sold.I was on the site using my phone and punched the wrong numbers. I took a big loss but I couldn't blame the buyer. So, I ate the loss and stood by my offer..It sucked, but it was the right thing to do.

Wouldn't life be a lot easier if everyone was as concerned about others as they are about themselves?

Simply stated I forgot about a service bulletin book I borrowed from Diego and got lost in the shuffle of an immense literature collection that I own and proudly caretake. Notified Diego today and case is closed. Ironically enough I’m featured as a thank you in the credits section of his published most recently muscle car book. I understand the principle etc.

So Diego you have some explaining to do. Does he owe you the $50 or not? Did he borrow the book or did you sell it? Where was the misunderstanding? And finally what about the negatives?

I have some explaining to do?

I think it's clear from past communication between him and me that I sent him the book in exchange for an agreed upon value plus shipping. It was not "borrowed" unless, all of a sudden, he's decided he doesn't want it over two years later.

The negatives are between him and a friend of mine, but I have guilt because I roped my friend into lending something that can't be replaced.

he says he notified you today and the case is closed. do you have any documentation showing clearly that it was not loaned but rather was sold? if so please post it and then see what he says? its not closed until you both agreebor one of you makes the other give up. you have come this far might as well lay it out. sounds like excuses on his side. what was the notification he gave you?

He did reach out to me on FB but it's not closed till I get my money.

As far as documentation is concerned, there's plenty of PMs on FB of me reminding about the money and "oh shoot I'll get on it" responses. It's more than clear from the conversations that there was an exchange of money for a rare Buick book.

Is it the rule of this feedback forum to post the conversation? Even with the issues I've had, I'm more inclined to wait till I receive what we had agreed upon, but if the rule here is to lay it all out, I'll comply.

I dont know about any rules but waiting has been working to well for you. and considering he thinks that you loaned him the book and considers the matter closed, its not looking good for Tony Rose right now. He seems just as you described him.

At the very least he should send that book back and the negatives but to remove all doubt I would post the conversations so everyone can see the double talk that you are referring to.

If Tony Rose aka TROSE11SECGN wants to make it right he should come on here and say he will send the book back or the money, and the negatives by a certain date. I mean he admited today that you sent him a book and it was borrowed. That means he has to send it back and if he doesnt and shows no interest in making this right then he is indeed exactly what you and all the other guys said he is. A THIEF.

Come on Tony, send the book and negatives back and make good on your personal integrity.

According to Tony and Diego, they seemed to have come to a resolution of their dispute. Isnt that enough Gary?

Sounds like the issue basicly solved
    According to both parties
If I was Diego I'd delete the thread before any more arm chair quarterbacks chime in

I'm going to leave it up till I get my money, so let's simply ask the QBs to sit this one out from here.
