Sorry the spring is in the way but it gets the idea across.

Is that a Kleiner fork? Looks like it

Thanks guys, I went to NAPA yesterday and picked up the sperical rod end and the stud. I believe it is a better setup. If you notice on Phils's pic, the knuckle of the rod end has full 360 degree rotation. The rubber style has no movement like that which seems to create a slight binding situation. That may account for a better pedal feel? The only thing I had to do otherwise is make an extension for the rod bolt as the 2.75" was not long enough to disengage my clutch. In my case, I needed a push rod bolt about 3.25" long.
Great thread, Great info! Thanks, Mike

I noticed on my car, with the factory setup the bushing was always in a state of bind. The binding increased when the clutch was disengaged (pedal depressed) This is because the rod doesn't move in a true straight line. Having a spherical end allows for movement on 2 planes instead of just the one so binding of any kind is eliminated.

Is the Kliener fork any different then the factory one? I need to buy a new fork when I replace my clutch this spring.

Scott I remember that. Weren't you going to try a modified Pontiac setup at one point, or am I confusing you with someone else?

My rod end arrives today. When I chase down a stud what do I look for? Sounds like there is a specific stud to get from NAPA. I looked for that ST-43 on the NAPA website and found nothing.

Your looking for a 3/8th manifold stud. It will have course theads on one end and fine on the other.

I still have the part but I havent tried it yet. I might try it this spring for a test. I need to pull the motor out to replace my oil pan gasket. Hope to get going on that soon. Pic attached of the other piece I am going to try. Pontiac end cut down and a nut welded on. You could get one of the male heim joints and thread it into the end assuming you have the correct threads.
