I just installed A big block with headers in my 72 Skylark and last night was installing all the clutch linkage. I couldn't find A good location to hook the end of the return spring that use to hook to the slot in frame but now my headers are in the way.I was wondering if anyone would have A picture were to relocate the spring when using headers .
Dwayne, When I replaced my engine last April, the headers were already on the old motor and the return spring was affixed to the area depicted in the assembly manual. After fighting with it in an attempt to hook it back to the spot it had originally been, I gs gave up and went to plan B - which was one of the oil pan bolts using a small piece of metal as the bracket/hook.
Hey thanks Brett That's A good idea, I will see if I can make something like that work.Im not using original clutch linkage, its A parts place kit .I appreciate your help and the picture.
Here a photo from my all original 71 GS350 4 speed car. I added a 462 BBB and used the same setup but without headers.
I made A bracket based on Brett's idea using A oil pan bolt to hold the bracket and seems to work pretty good.
Hmm, putting headers on my 4-speed car. I wondered if this was going to be an issue as I was pulling the clutch lever and spring off. I was going to use something off the motor mount bolts.
I'd have liked to put it back to where it originally was and still may attempt it again. It was there with these same headers before, so as far as I'm concerned, it can go back. Aside from that, I think anywhere you decide to mount it will work.
I don't do this any more but I used to work with this stuff. This is not my network since that would be a major faux pas and a huge security breach.
