like the two tone. GM never made a 4 Dr look more like a 2 DR. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/828926714333930
So is this a Canadian built car with unique Canadian design/emblems and trim? I'll admit 58's had a lot of chrome but this car seems to have more than a US built Special?! Would be interesting to know the story/history behind this car and how GM Canada sourced all this extra ornamentation . These GMs dramatically changed design each year in the mid to late 50's so it certainly would have been a costly car to build, sell and maintain!! The name "Special " seems to be spot on here
I'm not that familiar with the finer points on these cars, but looking at others, I see what you mean. generally, the opposite is true as Canadian cars are usually more austere than their US. cousins. The dual mirrors and the trunk lid strips seem to be extra as are the port holes (or lifted from a Roadmaster or something) compared with this 58 Special I found which doesn't have any rear (optional?)view mirrors or port holes. .
Probably JC Whitney addons. The two tone paint is awful on 58's and makes it obvious why Buick didn't two tone them, There is already more that enough going on the side of a 58 without more.
Agreed: it's way too busy. It almost falls into the "Mullet Lead of the Day"category. Throw on a Continental kit and it's a candidate!
‘58 was the first year of across-the-board 12-in aluminum drums. They got a liner improvement in ‘59, but these were industry-best brakes. Tires would be a much larger weakness. I think it was Car Life that tested a ‘60 at 138’ from 60-0.
