What are people paying to get their rally wheels rechromed ?

From my understanding there is a big difference in chroming the 5x5 and the 5x4.75. I was told they have to cut the centers out of the GS/skylark wheels.
That is why the cost is so high for the smaller bolt pattern wheel. They are two piece and cannot be chromed as one.
I have been looking for a place to get a set of WG wheels chromed.

That is exactly how it was explained to me from a couple plating shops in my area. They basically said they cannot and would not do them. I just laugh when I see guys selling old Cragar mags and their knock off copies like Appliance mags that are rusty. They say they just need rechroming. Rechroming is way more than buying new if they can do it at all. I have a couple sets of the Super Sport option painted Buick wheels. I ended up with a rusty set of the chrome wheels recently. They were way too rusty for driver quality to me so I had them blasted and just painted them like my Super sport ones. In my opinion if your wheels are too rusty to use then you need to buy some new to you good used ones or new reproductions. It is just too costly to rechrome. I had heard Stockton wheel in CA. would refinish them but they will cut them apart and rechrome. I guess it makes sense if they are a rare version but otherwise it is cost prohibitive. You guys have more chrome plating shops available to you at some decent prices in the States but in Canada any plating work is insanely expensive due to environmental regulations.

I have not tried but I thought about checking to see if they can be powder coated. I am curious to see if just the ring could be blasted and powder coated??

For sure. I talked to the guy I use for powder-coating about doing chrome rims and he said as long as there is a good heavy sand blasted profile then powder-coating will stick no problem. I chose to spray the set I just did with Polyurethane enamel rather than powder coating as I wanted to save a few bucks. I sand blast stuff at home in my blast cabinet sometimes but I also have a guy I use to sand blast. He is so reasonable and fast on bigger stuff I brought these ones to him. He blasted 6 wheels for $100 cash. Not worth my time. He has a giant Ingersol Rand blast setup that is mobile. He blasted the rusty chrome rims enough I could see the copper underneath. Paint or powder coat will stick to that no problem at all. They came out great. They will get trim rings and centre caps soon. They will look just like the ones I have on my 66' that were the painted versions in the first place.

My thoughts were to leave the centers stock and powder coat Chrome color the outer ring. I guess it cannot be any worse than the rust...

I had my 15” factory’s re-ringed by McWheels in Iowa back in 2012-13 for $500. He cut out the centers and welded on new outside rims, You could choose the width you wanted 6-10”.
