Has anyone of you tried polishing and chrome plating TA Performance aluminum valve covers? If so, how did they turn out? Smooth and shiny like chrome plated steel parts? Or pitted?

I had a lot of experience having aluminum parts polished and chrome plated back in the late 60's and 70's when I was into customizing motorcycles. The aluminum engine parts from my 1966 H-D XLCH always came back pitted to some degree, regardless what shop did the work. The aluminum parts from my early Honda CB750 four cylinder motorcycles always came back looking almost like chrome plated steel, with no flaws.

Of course, H-D upgraded their aluminum castings over the years to the point that the chrome plating was about as perfect as you can get. So, I know that some aluminum products can be chrome plated beautifully.

I had some power coated years ago...turned out great. They have some powder coat that resembles chrome. Only issue was where the oil cap turns they coated that and pieces of powder coat would crumble off and drop in motor so I took a grinder and removed the coating in that area.
