In the days of my youth, I remember a catalog for the hobbiest that I think was called something like Modeler's Auto World or something similar. It was sort of the J.C.Whitney catalog for model builders and slot car hobbiests. You could find just about anything in it, from complete kits, to individual componets (steel axles comes to mind, along with rectangular tubing),decals, tires, etc. Is this catalog still available? Where would one find it? I seem to remember sending in a coupon and getting one mailed to me when I was a kid (again, like J.C. Whitney). Thanks.
Dwayne, nothing like that still available. The closest things now are magazines (Scale Auto, Model Cars, FineScale Modeler, etc) which are full of features, product reviews, contest coverage, and advertising. Then you have mail order catalogs, etc. But there are no comprehensive mail order places out there anymore, I think the automotive model cottage industry has grown much too large for that. :TU: If you have something in particular you are looking for, let me know and I may be able to steer you in the right direction.
Yes, It was called "Auto World". They are long gone. There are still a few good mail order places for vintage and current models. One of my favorites is www.modelroundup.com. Another source for out of production/vintage kits is www.modelcarkits.com. I remember Auto World was big into Aurora slot cars too. Jason
Yep, that's the one.... ....Thanks, guys!! I wasn't looking for anything in particular. Just taking a stroll down memory lane...... I'll check out the links. Thanks! I might find some new momories waiting to be found on one of them them:grin:
I still have an Auto World catalog that I keep for "reference" of availability. I think it's from about '95.o No: I don't think they're around, anymore, though. I've never seen any more recent issues.:ball:
