Has anyone tried it? Is it pretty straight forward dis-assembly and reassemble in the same order after a carb clean dip?

I have 2 manuals for the carter AFB. I'd like to save the $260 the shop wants to charge me and maybe learn a lot along the way.

The AFB is easy to rebuild. Remove the metering rods before you pull the bowl cover. Before removing the idle mixture screws, gently turn them in counting the number of turns to bottom so you can reset them, and use a thick bladed screwdriver that fits when you pull the jets so you don't strip the slot. Play close attention to float setting and keep things clean. I like to use a fine file to remove burrs and dings on the top and bottom of the base casting. Happy motoring, Frank

If you are installing a "kit" into your AFB, it's easier than putting new pedals on a tricycle! There are a couple of areas where folks get into troubles, one of them is accl pump function/failure. Most kits come with leather pumps, I've never had any luck with those here. For some reason they still supply them in many kits. They dry up and shrink/swell, etc. I use and much prefer the modern Viton pumps, never had the first problem one with them.....Cliff

super simple rebuild. Make sure the valve shafts are nice and tight on your core though, otherwise it's not reallly worth rebuilding.
