Hi there, I have a 1964 425 nailhead with original manifold and a carter carb. I was wanting to upgrade the carb to an 800 cfm avs2 edelbrock carburetor. Will there be any issues mounting this carb to the stock manifold. Will I have to make any modifications? will the steel heatplate work with newer edelbrock carbs too?

    Thanks in advance guys!

I changed my Carter out with an 750cfm Edelbrock 1407, and the only thing I made different was the trotthle arm, if that is the correct therm.. Mine's a 401" from 65'

If you tap the heat riser holes with a 1/4npt tap and plug them with Allen socket pipe plugs you won’t need the heat plate.

I've got the edelbrock 750 on my 64 and I have the have the metal and paper gasket mounted. It runs great.

For the kickdown, I made my own 3d printed bracket and used a microswitch. See the thread in this forum, shifty business.

Let me know if you have questions.

I put one on my 364 which was originally a 2bbl. Throttle was easy, and used a Lokar kickdown for the 400 trans - very easy to install and adjust. Highly recommend it!

be sure to trial fit carb first - throttle blade size vs manifold openings .
I had to use an 850 size riser to test run an 800AVS on my truck . standard performer intake .
